I'm a local teacher, practicing visual artist, Dia de los Muertos scholarship fundraiser director, a commissioner for the Pasco Arts and Culture Commission  and I love this community.

Saul & Alexia Estrada and a Mutual Dream

Cafe con Arte was co-founded by Alexia Estrada and Saul Martinez with initial financial investment from Michelle Smith a local HS Principal.  The financial push started a domino effect of sitting down and planning the project, renting their dream space, pursuing a successful Kickstarter campaign (thank you to our amazing 271 backers) and additional from friends and family support that helped bring this project to fruition.  We are proud to bring something to the community that genuinely says, "you are deserving of spaces and much much more".

HOW IS CAFEconARTE DIFFERENT?

It's what's on the inside that counts

Our spot uniquely combines community space with the arts. We want to generate a culture of serving patrons with coffee, art and social emotional learning (as practiced in K-12 education). . How will we do this? This will happen through a cafe-style gallery in the heart of historic downtown. Those who enter our doors will be introduced to the visual arts.  We will provide an experience by guiding customers through the visual analysis process, increasing visual literacy while also allowing reflection and introspection.

This space will be inclusive. One aspect of our mission is to provide a space for patrons to feel noticed and know that they belong. There will be an emphasis on the space reflecting our most marginalized communities in Pasco. The curated art gallery, a carefully curated literary archive, and collection of music encompassing the last century will serve as points of reverence and inspiration for our guests. This intentional approach attempts to remedy what is not historically documented by archiving and celebrating thriving diverse cultures in our city.

Our hope is that there will be an opportunity to give back to the community through service projects that include art workshops and mentorship programs. It is our belief that with coffee and a space we can create a community that is more art centered and art forward!

Sincerely,

Saul & Alexia
